Blitzstein: Orchestra Variations
Sharp and jazz-infused. This piece didn’t have its premiere until 54 years after it was completed!


Bernstein: Symphony No. 1, Jeremiah
Rhapsodic yet contemplative. Bernstein built some of his melodies off the traditional liturgical chants of the Hebrew texts.


Copland: Statements for Orchestra
Composed vignettes. Copland wrote the piece while travelling across North America, making stops in Mexico City, Minnesota, and New York.


Copland: Appalachian Spring Suite
Soaring and distinctly American. This iconic work, which includes the well-known hymn Simple Gifts, was commissioned by Martha Graham.
