Chi Lee

Viola

Hometown: Kaohsiung, Taiwan
Alma maters: Rice University, Manhattan School of Music
Musical origins: I started playing viola when I was 9 years old.
Favorite piece to play: I like playing orchestral pieces in general. I also love Brahms’ Piano Quartet in C minor.
Favorite musical memory: Playing West Side Story in Germany at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival. My bridesmaid, Marie, was my stand partner and my now-husband, Paul, was in the bass section!
Favorite non-classical music: I like listening to Chinese pop songs.
Best music to have on repeat: Glière’s Intermezzo, Op. 9, No.1
Favorite non-musical activity: Sitting in cafes
Time travel destination: I would travel back to last summer when I was with my family and husband in Taiwan.
